Another Day's Journey

I didn't lay my head down to rest until 4am this morning and then got back up at 8am to help a friend with a project. Something I thought I was going to regret doing but it was actually a fun experience.

Everyone knows about the Peach Festival in Ruston and the Strawberry Festival down south along with other festivals but who has ever heard of the Chicken Festival. Clearly I haven't. It takes place in Dubach, Louisiana, a very small town about 10 minutes North of Ruston. I've been in Ruston my whole life and never heard of the Chicken Festival. One thing I love about the area of Ruston and areas around it; you always learning something new.

A cousin of mine thought it would be cool to do a piece on the history of Dubach as the Chicken Festival approaches(September). So today we took a trip to lovely town of Dubach. He showed me around and I took a few pictures and took note of how it had changed. I really think this would be an interesting project.

So in the process of doing this research I came across this young girl who is trying to raise money to attend the American Idol in Texas that is coming up. I really thought that was cool. I love seeing young people trying to better themselves. It's a lot of kids out there not wanting to better themselves and they want to be dependent on someone else so seeing young people trying to better themselves and make their dreams come true it's just an amazing feeling!

There will more of that story of that young lady coming soon.

Now back to the Dubach project. I'm going to write a piece on the history of Dubach and integrate the Chicken Festival into it.This will be my very first big project so I'm looking forward to that.

In the meantime it was another day's journey and I didn't get much accomplished today but hopefully tomorrow or should I say today I will get a little more done!

Happy Sunday
